Year 5 children took part in a workshop about the use of social media. They looked at how social media can be used in a good way but also examined the dangers that can be harmful when children are online either on phones, IPADs, and computers. The children already had a good knowledge of online safety through their Computing lessons, however, they learned some important facts about who to contact if they face any problems and how easy it is for children to be deceived.

In the afternoon, Year 6 also had a workshop about gang culture which educated the pupils on how children join gangs and how dangerous it can be. Children are drawn into gangs and enticed with gifts and then it is very difficult for them to come out of them. There were some eye opening facts which the children were shocked by but it was another good learning opportunity for them.
