Oompa Loompa Day 2020
12th Nov 2020
As Year 6 pupils head towards the end of their unit on Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory it was time for them once again to engage in the annual Oompa Loompa day. The pupils all looked fantastic as they swarmed onto the playground complete with green hair, orange faces and white eyebrows. Many of the children opted to create their own costume from scratch as well which was very impressive to see.
During the morning's extended English focus the children analysed the different texts and movies portrayals of the Oompa Loompas and examined what was similar or different. They also had to use descriptive language of their own to describe the wonderfully inventive chocolate addicts in their own words. The finale was performance time, with children performing their own versions of the famous songs from the film. Some children rapped, some went gospel and Mr Mabey even stopped by to watch some of the brilliant dancing. A fun day for sure!
