Oliver Twist

On Thursday the 30 th of March our children had the wonderful opportunity to watch the Oliver Twist show performed by the M & M theatre company. The children really enjoyed the show and joined in with the singing and dancing to this classic story. The actors did a brilliant job and portrayed the roles of Oliver Twist, Artful Dodger and Fagin in the classic Charles Dicken's style. We look forward to welcoming them back next year for another amazing performance.

Jamie Knight Football Freestyler

On 9th February, St Edward’s welcomed Jamie Knight, the Freestyle Footballer to our school as part of ‘Aspirations Week’. Jamie Knight is currently one of the world's best and most in-demand Professional Football Freestylers. Jamie has travelled worldwide working with the most prominent global brands, comprising of the likes of Nike, Adidas & Red Bull. Jamie's performances include some of the most prolific sports events such as an on the pitch performance at the 2017 UEFA Champions League Final in front of 80,000 people and a global audience of 200+ million and also an on stage performance at the 2018 Laureus World Sports Awards in front of the world's best athletes past and present.

Seedlings welcomes Little City!

Little City is an entirely mobile role play city for the under 6’s to explore and enjoy. Utilising bespoke backdrops and specially selected high-quality toys and equipment, children at St Edward’s got to fully immerse themselves in their own world - their own LITTLE CITY as part of ‘Aspirations Week’. Nursery children are our biggest observers: they have watched us as adults in the supermarket, post letters in the Post Office and style our hair. The Little City workshop enabled Seedlings pupils to be ‘grown ups’ - where nothing was off limits!

Nee Naw HQ visited St Edward’s as part of Aspirations Week.

Nee Naw HQ recognises that young children love to play as it’s the thing they do best. From an early age, children love to make-believe and pretend play is a key learning element; it allows kids to explore and make sense of their world. Therefore, St Edward’s booked Nee Naw HQ as part of our aspirations week for the EYFS setting (Reception classes) as we wanted to fire up St Edward’s children's creativity and awaken their imagination, as well as helping the children build their self-confidence and strengthen their brains and bodies. The Nee Naw session gave our reception ‘Little Heroes’ the most memorable, fun and unique play experience.

Commonwealth Choir at Horse Guards Parade

The children choir have a long stint this week performing over four night for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations (5th to 7th July), staring with 4th July full dress rehearsal. They sang beautifully and the evening events were superb.

NSPCC ‘Speak Out, Stay Safe’ programme

As the UK’s largest children’s charity, the NSPCC are committed to making sure that they help schools around the country keep their pupils safe. The aim of the NSPCC is to empower and help children and to provide teachers all across the UK with the tools to do that because we know that through working together, the NSPCC and the whole school community can have tremendous impact in preventing abuse and keeping children and young people safe. Due to the effects of the Covid pandemic one element of the NSPCC’s service is the online ‘Speak Out, Stay Safe’ programme. As part of our safeguarding procedures the school delivered the online assemblies to the different year groups for children from Reception to Year 6.
